(La Comandancia Militar / The Military Command) applied in incuse, as used by Royalist forces during the Mexican War of Independence. The host coin design beneath the countermark retains the standard colonial portrait type. The countermark is boldly struck within a rectangular cartouche and dominates the central field. |
