| Descrizione del dritto | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Justinian I facing right, rendered in the late antique imperial tradition. The emperor wears a pearl diadem and a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, with visible cuirass detailing beneath. The surrounding Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The strike is characteristic of small-module hammered Byzantine copper coinage, with some weakness and irregularity at the flan edges. |

Above the H, the four Greek letters Θ Є I W are arranged in a horizontal line, identifying the Thessalonica mint and issue type. An exergual line is sometimes present beneath the central device. The design is austere and functional, typical of Byzantine fractional copper coinage of the Justinianic period. |
