| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, rendered in the late antique style typical of early Byzantine coinage. The imperial effigy displays a pearl diadem and cuirassed or draped shoulders, consistent with the iconographic conventions of the Thessalonica mint. A partial Latin legend surrounds the bust, with much of the inscription worn or partially visible on this example. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hammered Byzantine minor coinage of the sixth century. |
