| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial tradition. The diadem is visible atop the emperor's head, and the paludamentum (military cloak) is fastened at the shoulder, conveying both imperial and martial authority. The effigy is struck in low relief, typical of small Byzantine copper issues of the Thessalonica mint. The surrounding Latin legend reads D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVG, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The flan is irregular in shape, as is characteristic of hammered coinage of this period. |
