Reverse description The crowned quartered arms of Spain occupy the central field, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in the first and fourth quarters, the pale-striped arms of Aragon in the second quarter, and the fleurs-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty in the third quarter, with a central escutcheon. The royal crown surmounts the shield. The assayer initial J appears to the left of the shield and the denomination numeral 8 to the right, both flanked by decorative floral ornaments. The mint mark LM (Lima) appears twice in the lower field, separated by a small figure. The surrounding legend reads SAPIENTIA TIMOR DOMINI (The fear of the Lord is wisdom), taken from Proverbs, encircling the design within a toothed border.
