Eusébio da Silva Ferreira died in January 2014, and Portugal's commemorative program for him arrived two years later — part of a broader "Sport Heroes" series that INCM used to honor national athletic figures in multiple metals and face values simultaneously. The €7.50 denomination itself is something of an oddity in modern European coinage, chosen to sit outside the standard collector tier while still qualifying as legal tender.
