| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features an abstract, highly textured artistic composition depicting swirling cloud formations rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, evoking a dreamlike or literary landscape consistent with the imaginative world of José Saramago. The design, executed by engraver Carlos Nogueira, fills the entire coin face with atmospheric depth and subtle tonal gradation.
