| 表面の説明 | Central field features the national coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea, depicting a silver shield charged with a silk-cotton tree (ceiba), flanked by two sprigs of leaves, and surmounted by an arc of six gold six-pointed stars representing the mainland and island territories. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto in three sections: UNIDAD, PAZ, and JUSTICIA. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA DE GUINEA ECUATORIAL arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1991 along the right, and the denomination 7000 FRANCOS across the lower field. |

Equatorial Guinea's relationship with the CFA franc zone has been politically awkward since the country — a former Spanish colony — joined BEAC in 1985, making it the only member whose colonial monetary history had no French connection whatsoever. This piece was issued under Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who had seized power in 1979 by overthrowing and executing his own uncle, Francisco Macías Nguema. The 7000-franc denomination is an artifact of the conversion rate applied when Equatorial Guinea's ekwele was absorbed into the CFA system.
