Turkey's 7,500,000 lira denomination was a direct consequence of chronic inflation that had eroded the lira for decades — by 2001, a single US dollar bought roughly 1.4 million liras. The denomination itself is not an editorial choice but a mathematical inevitability. The Turkish Redenomination Act of 2003 would eventually replace 1,000,000 old lira with one New Turkish Lira, effectively retiring issues like this within a few years of striking.
