Aanvullende informatie

Turkey's wildlife conservation series from this period was issued under a monetary system in the final throes of collapse. By 2001, cumulative inflation since the 1970s had rendered the lira so devalued that a silver commemorative required a face value in the millions — the 7,500,000 lira denomination was not hyperbole but arithmetic. The economic crisis peaked the following February when the government abandoned the exchange rate peg and the lira lost roughly 40% of its value overnight.

The Eurasian griffon breeds in Anatolia in small, declining colonies, particularly around the limestone cliffs of the Taurus range.
