Guernsey's wartime fractional notes were produced under German occupation using whatever materials the island's printers could source locally — which is why the paper varies noticeably across the series. The blue paper variety of the 6 Pence is among the more scarce of the colour variants, a direct consequence of ad hoc wartime procurement rather than any deliberate design choice.
The 'Withdrawn' overprint was applied after liberation in 1945 to invalidate notes still in circulation before formal demonetisation. Notes that received the overprint had clearly survived in use or storage through the full occupation period.
