Reverse description Large Greek numeral S (stigma, equivalent to 6) displayed prominently in the center of the field, denoting the coin's denomination of 6 nummi. The numeral is enclosed within a plain circular border or dotted ring, occupying most of the reverse field. The design is stark and functional, consistent with the utilitarian character of small Byzantine bronze denomination coinage from the Alexandrian mint. The flan edges are irregular, and a partial additional legend or mint mark may appear at the periphery. The surface shows typical green patination consistent with prolonged burial.
