A satin silver-colored rim and field are divided by a smooth, embossed silver ring. The field contains a shield-like shape containing a section of a globe centered on the northern part of South America (i.e. Venezuela), over which a plane emitting a triangle downwards flies on a backdrop of a large cloud.

Reverse description
An equilateral triangle circumscribed by the edge of the medal. The bottom sector, below the triangle, contains the MARNR logo. Within the triangle is a section of a globe divided into a grid. Above this globe flies a plane projecting a triangle downwards onto a map of Venezuela, divided into its municipalities. This map of Venezuela includes the disputed eastern region of Guyana (Guayana Esequiba). In the bottom-left corner of the triangle is a square containing the Coat of Arms of Venezuela.
