| Obverse description | The obverse features a bold geometric design divided into two contrasting fields: a polished mirror proof field on the right occupying the majority of the surface, and a brushed or frosted rectangular panel on the left. The year of issue, 2004, appears in the upper left within the lighter panel. The national name REPUBLIKA SLOVENIJA is inscribed in two lines in the upper right field in bold capital Latin lettering. The denomination 5000 is prominently displayed in large numerals at the centre-lower portion of the design, with the currency unit TOLARJEV inscribed beneath in capitals. |

Bled's inclusion in this commemorative program reflects Slovenia's post-independence effort to codify national identity through its coinage — the town had been a favored resort of Yugoslav royalty and later Tito himself, who maintained a villa on the lake's shore used for hosting foreign dignitaries throughout the Cold War period.
