| Opmerkingen |
During the Russian Civil War, the Blagoveshchensk branch of the State Bank — sitting on the Amur River at the Chinese border — issued its own emergency notes as central authority in the region collapsed. The Soviet advance, the activity of Ataman Semyonov's forces, and the presence of Japanese interventionist troops in the Far East all created a monetary environment in which local branches had little choice but to print or go without a functioning medium of exchange.
The Blagoveshchensk issues of 1919–1920 are among the more obscure Far Eastern Civil War locals. At the 5000-rouble denomination, survival rates are low — this was high-value paper issued in chaotic conditions, and regional redemption never happened in any organized way.
