Chad's financial authority, the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale, has issued numismatic silver under the CFA franc framework since the early 2000s — a program with no meaningful connection to Chadian monetary history and driven entirely by the international collector market. These pieces are contracted through European minting intermediaries and carry Chad's name largely because BEAC member states will license their issuing authority for a fee.

The "Matrone of Moscow" refers to Matrona of Moscow, the Russian Orthodox saint canonized in 1999 whose remains are housed at the Intercession Convent. Her cult following grew rapidly post-Soviet, and she became one of the most venerated figures in contemporary Russian Orthodoxy — which explains why her likeness appeared on collector coins from multiple non-Russian issuers during the 2010s.
