| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse depicts a detailed relief view of the birthplace of Ferenc Erkel, a single-storey historic building rendered with bare winter trees flanking the facade. The cursive legend 'Magyar Köztársaság' (Republic of Hungary) arches across the upper field. Below the architectural motif, the large denomination numeral '5000' dominates the lower field, flanked by the date '2010' to the left and the Budapest Mint mark 'BP.' to the right, with the word 'forint' inscribed in cursive script beneath the numeral. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Ferenc Erkel composed the Hungarian national anthem's music in 1844 — a fact that alone explains why his face has appeared on Hungarian currency across multiple issues and regimes. He also founded the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra in 1853 and dominated Hungarian opera for decades, making him one of the few figures whose cultural credentials survived every political rebranding the country underwent from the Habsburg era onward.
The 2010 issue marked the 200th anniversary of his birth.
