| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a finely detailed exterior view of the Reformed Grand Church of Debrecen, a celebrated Neoclassical landmark completed in 1823, depicted in three-quarter frontal perspective showing its symmetrical twin bell towers and pedimented central facade. The architectural relief is rendered with precision, capturing the pilasters, cornices, and arched windows characteristic of the building's monumental design. The curved legend DEBRECENI REFORMÁTUS NAGYTEMPLOM (Reformed Grand Church of Debrecen) arcs prominently across the upper field. A small engraver's monogram appears in the lower field beneath the church facade. The mirror-polished background contrasts with the finely struck architectural detail. |

Debrecen's Great Reformed Church — the largest Protestant church in Hungary — became a flashpoint of national history in April 1849, when Lajos Kossuth proclaimed Hungarian independence from Habsburg rule from its pulpit. The choice of venue was deliberate: Debrecen had served as the seat of the revolutionary government after Budapest fell to Austrian forces, and the church carried the symbolic weight of Calvinist resistance to Catholic Habsburg authority that stretched back centuries.
The coin was issued as part of Hungary's ongoing cultural monument series, which has documented significant architectural and historical sites since the 1990s.
