背面描述 A large spoked locomotive wheel occupies the central field, rendered in fine detail and encircled by a raised rim border. Within the wheel's hub area, a side profile of an early 19th-century steam locomotive is depicted in low relief, commemorating the first railway line through Slovenian territory. The curved legend 'PRVA ŽELEZNICA' arcs along the upper left periphery, while the commemorative dates '1846-1996' appear in the lower field beneath the wheel, marking the 150th anniversary of the railway.

附加信息

Slovenia's first railway line ran from Vienna to Trieste, passing through Slovenian territory when the southern section opened in 1857 — part of the Südbahn, one of the most ambitious engineering projects in the Habsburg Empire. The Semmering section, completed in 1854, was the first mountain railway in the world built with a steam locomotive, and the broader line transformed Ljubljana from a provincial backwater into a node on a major continental route.

The 1996 issue marked the 140th anniversary of that opening.
