| Obverse description | At center, the denomination and country name are displayed within a circular arrangement of ten heraldic shields, representing Austria and its nine federal states. The shields are rendered in relief and evenly spaced around the inner circle. The legend reads REPUBLIK 500 SCHILLING OSTERREICH, arcing around the periphery of the field. The design was engraved by Edwin Grienauer in a clean, classicizing style typical of mid-twentieth-century Austrian commemorative coinage. |
