| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device depicts the monumental tomb of Giuseppe Garibaldi, rendered in a stylized modernist manner, with the distinctive domed sarcophagus surmounted by decorative spires and flanked by olive branches in the lower field. The legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO curves along the upper periphery, while LIBERTAS appears on a horizontal band across the centre of the design. The commemorative inscriptions CENTENARIO GARIBALDINO and the date range 1882-1982 are arranged in the lower field, with the Rome mint mark R appearing at the bottom. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
San Marino issued this coin during the centenary year of Giuseppe Garibaldi's death, marking the hundredth anniversary of his passing on June 2, 1882, at Caprera. Garibaldi had a direct connection to the republic — he visited San Marino in August 1849 during his desperate retreat after the fall of the Roman Republic, using its territory as a brief refuge before Austrian forces closed in. The republic's willingness to shelter him at considerable political risk was not forgotten.
