| Obverse description | Centre field carries an intaglio-engraved oval vignette of Dr. Sun Yat-sen in three-quarter facing portrait, framed by fine guilloche latticework in blue. Two red chop seals appear at the lower centre beneath the denomination panel, with the Chinese characters for 'Shanghai' flanking the portrait at mid-height. The note is printed vertically, with denomination numerals '伍佰' repeated in the side borders and the bank name '中央銀行' at the top, the issue date inscription '中華民國三十六年印' running along the lower margin. |
