Two cornucopiae flank the shield, and a ribbon above bears the legend 'AMERICA CENTRAL'. The peripheral legend 'REPUBLICA DE COSTA RICA' runs along the upper rim in bold Latin capitals, with a dotted inner border encircling the entire design.
