Reverse description The large numeral '50' dominates the upper field above the central round hole, rendered in bold raised relief. Below the perforation, the reign-era date is inscribed in kanji characters reading 昭和42年 (Year 42 of the Shōwa era), arcing along the lower field. The reverse is otherwise plain, with the denomination and date constituting the sole design elements flanking the central void.
