| 裏面の説明 | A detailed front elevation of the Bummerlhaus, a late Gothic merchant's house in Steyr, Austria, is depicted at center, rendered with fine architectural precision showing its characteristic stepped gable roof, arcaded loggia, and decorated facade. The engraver's name TIEFENTHALER appears in small incuse letters below the building. Two heraldic provincial shields flank the date 1973 at the upper portion of the inner circle. The commemorative legend '500 JAHRE BUMMERLHAUS IN STEYR' (500 Years of the Bummerlhaus in Steyr) encircles the entire design within a beaded border. |

The "Bummerlhaus" in Steyr — formally the Stadtplatz 32 building — is one of the best-preserved late Gothic burgher houses in Austria, dating to around 1497. This 1973 issue was part of Austria's long-running commemorative schilling series, which the mint used systematically through the 1970s to spotlight endangered or underappreciated architectural heritage. The Steyr old town had suffered significant damage in the final weeks of World War II and its postwar restoration was still politically contentious when this coin was authorized.
