Aanvullende informatie

India's transition from the anna system to decimal coinage was completed in 1957, but political pressure to retain familiar fractions kept the half-rupee denomination alive well into the following decade. The nickel 50 Paise series spanning 1964–1971 bridges two distinct mint identifications — the three sub-types reflect collar and die variations across Bombay, Calcutta, and Madras, each carrying its own mint mark convention.

The period coincides with severe Indo-Pakistani hostilities in 1965 and the monetary strain that followed, during which base metal coinage was produced under tight material budgets.
