| Description de l’avers | The obverse is printed in brown and pale green on cream paper, dominated by an ornate calligraphic panel enclosed within an elaborate engraved cartouche of scrolling acanthus-leaf and ribbon ornament. The denomination 'Fünfzig Mark' is rendered in large Kurrent script at the centre, flanked above by the legend 'Reichsbanknote' and below by the promise of payment text and the date 'Berlin, den 30. November 1918', with the issuing authority 'Reichsbankdirektorium' and a row of facsimile signatures beneath. An anti-counterfeiting warning in small script appears at the foot of the cartouche. |

A large intaglio wreath of bold acanthus foliage tied at the base with a ribbon bow frames an unprinted oval vignette space; the numeral '50' in large open figures is positioned at the top of the composition above the wreath. The series letter and serial number are printed in black and red respectively at the lower left and lower right margins. |
