Reverse description A hand grasping the barrel of a cannon is depicted in the central field, a motif commemorating Napoleon's recognition of San Marino's independence in 1797. A sheaf of wheat appears in the background to the right. The denomination 50 L. is boldly rendered in large numerals across the upper field, with the mint mark R to the lower left. The inscription NAPOLEONE and the date 1797 appear in the lower central field, with the engravers' names APARICIO, PERNAZZA incused along the lower rim.
