| 表面の説明 | The left portion of the note carries a finely etched intaglio vignette of Ruine Aggstein, the medieval castle ruin set dramatically atop a rocky promontory above a wooded riverbank, captioned 'Ruine Aggstein' in italics below. To the right, the Gothic-script title 'Wachauer Notgeld' appears within a ruled cartouche, flanked by decorative vine and grape-leaf border ornaments. The denomination 'Fünfzig Heller' and large numeral '50' are centrally placed, with the validity date, designer credit, and anti-counterfeiting warning in smaller letterpress text beneath. |

Spitz an der Donau was one of hundreds of Austrian municipalities forced into emergency currency production after the postwar collapse of centralized monetary supply left small communities without enough small-denomination notes to conduct daily trade. The Wachau series from this area is among the more visually ambitious of the Notgeld issues — Eduard Sieger's Vienna workshop handled a significant volume of these regional commissions, and Walter Prinzl's involvement as both designer and engraver on this piece is relatively uncommon; the two roles were frequently split between different hands.
The Aggstein designation ties this note to the ruined hilltop castle above the Danube, a recognizable landmark used to distinguish local Wachau issues by geography.
