Obverse description The heraldic Czech lion passant rampant, double-tailed and crowned, occupies the central field, depicted facing left in a dynamic, stylized relief. The legend ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA curves along the upper rim, while the four-digit date is inscribed in the lower exergue area, flanked by small decorative dots. The design was engraved by Vladimír Oppl and reflects a bold, modern heraldic style characteristic of post-1993 Czech coinage.

Additional information

Introduced in 1993 alongside the hasty monetary separation following Czechoslovakia's dissolution, this denomination survived far longer than its purchasing power warranted. By the time it was withdrawn in 2008, a single 50 haléřů piece could buy almost nothing — the Czech National Bank had been considering its elimination for years before finally acting.

Two catalog varieties exist due to a die modification; the distinction lies in the lettering on the reverse edge inscription rather than any dramatic redesign.
