Obverse description The obverse features a densely populated field filled with all twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac rendered in low relief across the entire surface, evoking a continuous celestial tapestry. A circular cartouche in the upper right contains the RF monogram above two stylized decorative elements, framed by the inscription CALENDRIER CHINOIS along its lower arc. The denominations 50 and EURO appear prominently in the left field in bold raised lettering. The years 2018 through 2029 are distributed at intervals around the outer rim, each corresponding to a cycle of the Chinese lunar calendar. The overall composition is dynamic and richly detailed, characteristic of the Monnaie de Paris commemorative series.

Reverse description The reverse presents a powerful rearing horse depicted in high relief at the center of the coin, rendered with exceptional anatomical detail and a flowing mane, conveying energy and motion. The horse rises dramatically from a circular inner field decorated with intricate Chinese-inspired floral and dragon motifs in the surrounding border. The Chinese character 馬 (horse) appears incuse in the lower left of the inner field. The circular legend ANNÉE DU CHEVAL arcs along the upper left of the border, with the year 2026 completing the legend at the upper right. The overall design harmoniously blends Western minting artistry with traditional Chinese decorative aesthetics.
