Obverse description The obverse features a faithful reproduction of Francisco de Goya y Lucientes's celebrated oil painting 'El 3 de mayo de 1808 en Madrid: los fusilamientos en la montaña del Príncipe Pío,' depicting the execution of Spanish civilians by Napoleonic forces. The central figure, dressed in a white shirt with arms outstretched, is dramatically illuminated against a dark background, embodying the suffering of the Spanish people. The composition closely follows Goya's original masterpiece preserved in the Museo Nacional del Prado. The legend ESPAÑA 2008 is inscribed in the field.
