Reverse description The central device depicts Gian Lorenzo Bernini's iconic marble elephant, which serves as the pedestal for the ancient obelisk discovered beneath the convent adjoining the church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome. The elephant is portrayed in three-quarter view with fine sculptural detail, faithful to Bernini's Baroque original. The series inscription FAUNA NELL'ARTE flanks the upper field, while the mint mark R and date 2014 appear at either side of the elephant. The denomination 50 EURO is inscribed in the lower exergue.
