| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by a large quill feather pen rendered in high relief, sweeping diagonally across the field from the upper right to the lower left, symbolising the art of writing. Surrounding the quill, inscribed in cursive script across the matte frosted field, are four famous literary quotations in French, Italian, English, and German respectively. In the lower portion of the coin, the legend 'L'art de la plume' appears in flowing cursive script, accompanied by the large denomination numeral '50' and the euro symbol. The abbreviation 'RF' (République Française) and the engraver's mark appear at the base of the design. |
