Reverse description Two naturalistic green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) are depicted in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field: a large adult turtle is rendered in fine detail swimming toward the right across the upper and central field, while a smaller juvenile turtle appears at lower left. Fronds of aquatic vegetation rise prominently at lower right, lending an underwater ambiance to the composition. The curved legend AMERICA CENTRAL arcs along the upper periphery, and the denomination 50 COLONES is inscribed in two lines along the lower rim.
