| 背面描述 | The reverse depicts a Kermode bear (Ursus americanus kermodei), rendered in high relief, shown in a three-quarter frontal stance atop a rocky outcrop with low vegetation at its feet. Foliage motifs are incused along the left and right inner margins, and the engraver's initials JK appear to the lower right of the central device. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper periphery, the date 2019 is positioned to the right field, and the scientific name Ursus americanus kermodei curves along the lower periphery in italic lettering. |

The Kermode bear — a white-coated black bear occurring through a recessive gene mutation — is found almost exclusively in a small coastal region of British Columbia, particularly on Gribbell and Princess Royal Islands. The First Nations of that territory, primarily the Tsimshian, regard it as sacred and had long kept its existence largely quiet from outsiders. The RCM has returned to the subject multiple times across different denominations, making this 50-cent issue one of several entries in an ongoing series rather than a singular dedication.
