| Obverse description | Greenish-blue letterpress on a light ground, with the coat of arms of Catalonia at upper centre flanked by geometric underprint motifs. The text block carries the municipal authority's full declaration of obligation, with the face value '50 CENTIMS' rendered in bold type. The overall layout is typical of Catalan Civil War emergency issues, relying on typographic composition rather than pictorial vignette. |

La Sentiu de Sió is a small municipality in the Lleida comarca of La Noguera, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional emergency currency in 1937 after metallic coinage effectively vanished from circulation. The Republican government had authorized local councils to fill the gap, producing a wave of highly localized paper — most of it printed by small regional shops with whatever stock they had on hand.
Imprenta Unió Obrera in nearby Balaguer handled production for several municipalities in the zone. The "Obrera" designation reflects the collectivization of many printing establishments under anarchist or socialist union control during this period.
