The overall design reflects the ornate Moorish artistic tradition characteristic of Sharifian coinage under Sultan Yusuf. |

Above and below the numeral, Arabic inscriptions in Maghrebi script render the denomination (قطعة خمسين سنتيما). The entire composition is set within a circular border of continuous interlaced geometric ornament, with the mintmark privy mark of the Poissy mint visible at the lower center of the field. |
