| Obverse description | Central field features the Seal of Solomon (five-pointed star, Khatim Sulayman) rendered in intricate low relief, enclosed within a circular border of elaborate Arabesque foliate scrollwork. A small rosette motif occupies the center of the star. The Latin legend EMPIRE CHERIFIEN arcs along the upper periphery, while an Arabic inscription in Maghrebi script curves along the lower border within a decorative cartouche, identifying the issuing authority. The overall design reflects the ornate Moorish artistic tradition characteristic of Sharifian coinage under Sultan Yusuf. |
