| Description de l’avers | The obverse is printed in blue and red on a pink-toned paper with a repeating letterpress underprint of the text CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE ROANNE across the entire field. A central oval vignette contains the large red numeral '50' overprinted across the denomination text CINQUANTE CENTIMES in black, below which appear two facsimile signature lines for Le Président and Le Trésorier. The date 1917 appears in a decorative oval cartouche at the top centre, flanked by caduceus ornaments and foliate scrollwork, with the issuer's name and reimbursement notice inscribed above and below the central oval, and the town name ROANNE in a rectangular frame at the base. |

A large central oval vignette, engraved by M. de Meyère after J. Coquard's design, presents an industrial townscape of Roanne with a steam locomotive, factory buildings, and a railway yard in the foreground. Allegorical attributes of commerce and industry — bolts of cloth and books at lower left, mechanical tools and a cogwheel at lower right — flank the vignette, while a grape-vine cluster occupies the upper left corner and the municipal coat of arms with the motto CRESCAME LUCEBO appears at the upper right. |
