Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The eagle faces left with wings partially spread, rendered in fine detail. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the design. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin capital letters.
