正面描述 The obverse is printed in red-brown and blue on cream paper with a floral guilloche underprint in yellow-green. The heading 'Wandsbeker Kassenschein' appears at the top within a decorative panel, with the denomination 'Fünfzig Millionen' rendered in large Gothic blackletter script across the centre, flanked on both sides by the numeral '50 000 000'. A blue-printed municipal coat of arms of Wandsbek occupies the centre vignette, partially overlapping the denomination text, above an explanatory text block stating the note's acceptance by local savings banks and redemption terms, followed by the date 'Wandsbek, [day] September 1923' and four manuscript signatures of city officials below the legend 'Namens der Stadt:'.

备注

Wandsbek was absorbed into Greater Hamburg in 1937, but in 1923 it still existed as an independent Prussian city with its own municipal administration — and, briefly, its own printing press running emergency currency. Fr. Duvegel was a local Wandsbek printer, not a specialist banknote firm, which shows in the workmanship. Notgeld of this denomination signals late-stage hyperinflation: by the time fifty-million-mark notes were necessary for ordinary transactions, the Reichsbank had effectively lost control of the money supply to hundreds of municipal and corporate issuers scrambling to keep commerce moving.

The city's fiscal authority to issue this note expired within weeks of printing.
