Opmerkingen

A joint issue from two neighboring Württemberg towns — Böblingen and Sindelfingen — during the peak of the Weimar hyperinflation, when municipal and regional authorities across Germany were authorized to print emergency currency (Notgeld) to meet payroll and daily commerce as Reichsbank notes became worthless faster than they could be transported. By late 1923, fifty billion marks was roughly the price of a loaf of bread, and denominations at this level were still not considered large.

Dual-municipality issues of this kind are uncommon. The administrative cooperation required to produce and countersign a shared emergency note was unusual at the local level.
