| Obverse description | Letterpress-printed Notgeld note in red and violet on white paper, with an elaborate guilloche border framing the central text panel. The denomination 'Fünfzig Milliarden Mark' is set in bold decorative Gothic typeface at the top of the central field, above a multi-line redemption text in German script referencing the public treasuries of Reg.-Bez. Trier and Provinz Birkenfeld, dated Trier, 31. Oktober 1923. A serial number appears at lower left beside facsimile signatures of the issuing committee ('Der Ausschuss'), with the printer's imprint 'Schaar & Dathe, A.G., Trier' at the bottom; a vertical strip at left, framed in a black-ruled box, states the note's validity and circulation area, while the numeral '50.000.000.000' is printed vertically in large figures along the right margin. |
