Obverse description A Lipizzaner stallion rearing in the levade position, ridden by a uniformed rider of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, depicted in right profile at centre. The circular legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH runs along the periphery, separated by raised dots, with the inscription divided between the upper and lower portions of the field. The design is rendered in a clean, high-relief sculptural style characteristic of mid-20th century Austrian coinage.
