| Obverse description | Central field bears the large Arabic numeral '٥' (5) above the denomination 'قروش' (Qirsh/Piastres) in bold calligraphic script. The circular legend 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arab Republic of Egypt) arcs around the upper periphery in flowing Arabic script. The Hijri year '١٤٠٠' appears to the right and the Gregorian year '١٩٨٠' to the left in the lower field, flanking the denomination. A decorative floral or arabesque motif is positioned below the denomination in the lower central field. The coin is bordered by a continuous inner ring of fine dashes and a reeded edge. |
