正面描述	Unilateral white note printed entirely in intaglio on unwatermarked paper, with a vignette of a seated Britannia within an ornate cartouche at the upper left. The face is dominated by elaborate copperplate script setting out the promise to pay, the denomination in gothic bold type at lower left, and the date and place of issue in cursive script across the centre, with the serial number repeated three times. The Chief Cashier's manuscript signature appears at lower right alongside the printed legend for the Governor and Company of the Bank of England.

背面描述	The reverse is unprinted; the security imagery visible on this side consists entirely of the multi-tone watermark formed within the paper itself, comprising the legend BANK OF ENGLAND repeated at top and bottom in block capitals, a central rectangular panel bearing the word FIVE in bold relief, and £5 monogram panels at left and right, all set against a background of fine wavy-line guilloche, visible only when the note is held to light.
