| Beschrijving voorzijde | The issuer's title "Ulster Bank Limited" is printed at the top, with "Northern Ireland Issue" above a central oval vignette of a sailing ship at anchor. Numeral "5" counters set within elaborate guilloche rosettes and foliate scrollwork borders in green and black flank the vignette on either side, over a large green letterpress underprint of "FIVE" spanning the middle of the note. The promise-to-pay text and denomination "Five Pounds Sterling" are overprinted across the underprint, with "Belfast" appearing at the foot. |

The building vignette is set within a rectangular ruled border, surrounded by radiating wavy-line guilloche work extending across the full face of the note. The reverse carries no additional lettering. |
