| Obverse description | The issuer's title "Ulster Bank Limited" is printed at the top, with "Northern Ireland Issue" above a central oval vignette of a sailing ship at anchor. Numeral "5" counters set within elaborate guilloche rosettes and foliate scrollwork borders in green and black flank the vignette on either side, over a large green letterpress underprint of "FIVE" spanning the middle of the note.
