Reverse description The reverse presents a detailed high-relief depiction of the ruins of the Karnak Temple complex near Luxor, Egypt. A row of massive, partially standing ancient Egyptian columns dominates the central field, their cylindrical drum-stacked construction and hieroglyphic relief carvings rendered with considerable sculptural depth. Portions of a stone lintel or architrave are visible spanning the columns at the upper register, while scattered fallen masonry occupies the lower foreground, evoking the site's archaeological state. The overall composition fills the field to the borders, with no legends or inscriptions present, allowing the architectural motif to stand as the sole decorative element. The design is framed by the same decorative segmented border seen on the obverse.
